"In Their Shoes" Coming to Cottonwood.
The Cottonwood Explorers Pathfinder Club, a boys and girls club for 10 to 15 year olds is hosting a special program in conjunction with statewide Pathfinder Clubs.
The "In Their Shoes" experience will bring "kids from around the world" to the Verde Valley Adventist School gym. According to Greg Collins, Cottonwood Explorers Pathfinder Director, each child will choose a passport of a person from a country of their choice upon arrival and assume that person's identity for the weekend. The children will spend the weekend living as they would in the country they have chosen. Most of the passports are from 3rd world countries, a few from 2nd world countries and just two from developed countries. They experience the disparities of life in terms of food, water, education, and human rights and learn how other children world wide live and what they can do about it. Despite the deprivation, the children go through, they ask every year to have the experience of living together from around the world.
In Their Shoes Event
The children sign in and select their passports at 6 pm Friday, October 25 and live together through 6 pm Saturday, October 26. Contact Greg Collins, Cottonwood Explorers Pathfinder Director for more information. 928 634 4566
